And The AFL 2024 Premiers Are…

The AFL season comes to a conclusion as the Lions are crowned 2024 premiers.

And The AFL 2024 Premiers Are…

Congratulations are in order for the new reigning premiers, the Brisbane Lions. A fitting end to a season that went above and beyond expectations of all footy fans.

The closest home and away season in recent memory.

A tipster's nightmare and a footy fan’s delight. More close games than we’d care to count, edge of your seat excitement and genuine belief across 15 or so teams battling it out to make it to the last game of the season.

Heaving 90 thousand plus crowds, underdog upsets, drawn games and last minute, unbelievable comebacks - we were truly treated to something special.

September delivered and then some.

I don’t know how the rest of your finals predictors look now that we can check back, but I was completely off (Beau from the NXP Marketing team).

Sydney delivered their best after being the clear best team all season long, and the Lions making the Grand Final from outside the top 4 deserves praise in of itself.

Premiership redemption for the Lions.

No matter where your allegiance sat, Swans or Lions diehards, Sydney-siders or Brissy locals jumping on the bandwagon for one game of the year or for us Victorians clinging onto a VFL connection either supporting Fitzroy or South Melbourne, there could only be one happy camp come Saturday arvo.

Going into the last Saturday in September as the last two runners-up, expectations were at an all time high for fans of both sides, hoping and praying for Grand Final redemption and to right the wrongs of the last two years. For Sydney, the feeling was all too familiar, going down by big numbers in the Grand Final, again. For Chris Fagen’s Lions, the total opposite and after a year of waiting and preparing, the ultimate success!

Congratulations to the Lions on an epic season, we’ll be back when collaboration season rolls around again in 2025.

In case you've missed The Run Home series, we've looked at the Victorian Big 3; kicking off with Essendon, the close finish masters Collingwood, the mighty Blue Baggers and now the season finale with the Lions.

That concludes our AFL chat for the season.
